Ebola: Jigawa Govt. Trains 462 Teachers
The Jigawa Ministry of Education on Thursday said it had trained 462 teachers on preventive measures against the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
Alhaji Usaini Ayuba, the Zonal Education Officer, in charge of Kafinhausa, stated this at a one-day sensitisation programmme on Ebola, organised for teachers of public and private schools in Kafinhausa, Jigawa.
Ayuba said that the training was part of a comprehensive campaign designed to expose teachers on preventive measures to contain spread of the disease.
“The exercise is to sensitise teachers on Ebola and expose them to the ways of identifying symptoms as well as preventive methods of the disease,’’ he said.
Ayuba said that the ministry had also adopted proactive steps to improve sanitation and hygiene in schools.
A medical doctor, Usaini Bala, who also spoke, urged teachers to promote sanitation and personal hygiene habits in their schools.
“It is good to wash your hands regularly to avoid contracting Ebola and other viral infections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the teachers were drawn from primary, junior and senior secondary schools in Kafinhausa and Auyo local government areas.
