Nope, you don't need to strain your eyes! That is a real valid ID!

Shawna Hammond from Oklahoma is a Pastafarian, and she was recently allowed to wear a spaghetti strainer atop her head while taking a photo for her driver's license after citing the state's policy on allowing religious headwear.

Before you say, "wait, a pasta colander isn't religious headwear! I use that for straining my fettucini," know that Shawna is a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Shawna gave a brief history of the religion that many believed to be tongue-in-cheek:

"A man named Bobby Henderson wrote an open letter to the Kansas State Board of Education. It was actually about teaching creationism in school and he came up with the flying spaghetti monster and it had just as much merit." 

Well, we're glad that Shawna can live in a society where you can decide to wear a spaghetti strainer as an expression of religious freedom.
