Student's struggle for transportation due to fuel scarcity

Its now a tradition in University of Ilorin for students to be seen rushing, scrambling and on the run for the next available cab, bus, korope or even keke maruwa to take them to campus to attend lectures.....continue to read more
Though this is a normal trend because of the proximity of the school to town which measures about 5km from gate to school, but it's now above normal when fuel scarcity in ilorin metropolis is now the order of the day. A situation without a known cause and with several negative effects on it's citizens amongst which students of unilorin form the greater majority in tanke axis.

Amidst the rush is the early morning endurance trek where students have to walk up 3km (more or less) to get to the best bus stop (oke odo) where the rush is at it's peak and where the certainty of getting a cab is at it's highest.

The evenings in school also has it's bits of the jist, the queue which always seems like the long queue to enter the Ark of Moses always seems endless. Students are forced to leave their lecture rooms as early as 3-4pm and rush to join the queue to avoid standing endlessly for hours as a student once said "if I get to the park by 5pm, meeeeeen I am in for it because I'll definitely queue till 8pm......"

So my dear friends, 4 yrs in university of ilorin has it's ups and downs, this is definitely one of the downs. As for those with their private cars, now is your time to shine because there will definitely be lots of stranded good looking girls standing and waiting for you to come stop over.
"Tanke Sir" is now at it's peak ...lol and worse of all is the population of people in town is massive due to the delay in the release of slots on the hostel portal.

Well, let's save this jist for more updates on what's going on in and around unilorin... for more news on unilorin visit unilorintoday.com on facebook
